Urgent! Can I machine wash my Vans?

Ok, i droped some yellow gatorade on my favorite Vans. I really like them and don't want to throw them away. Click the link to see the shoe I have:

The are made of Canvas/suede upper and SBR rubber outsole. Is it ok if I machine wash them and air dry them? Will the glue wear out and my shoes turn yellow? I have heard different things so someone please set me straight.

Btw, should washing settings should I use. Thanks.

Hi there,

You can try it but the ink in the suede has a better chance of running unless you hand wash them.

My advice:

Go to Footlocker or Lady Foot Locker and get some Second Wind sneaker cleaner. Get the gel kind that comes with a brush, not the foam stuff that you rub off. Wash them by hand in cold water. Use the Second Wind stuff only on the cloth, and be sure to use the brush on the suede. Blot them dry inside and out as much as you can with paper towels. Stuff them with paper towels and let them air dry. Do not dry them near heat 'cause the white part will turn yellow. After they're about half dry brush the suede part with the brush they provide, and brush it again when they're dry. They might fade a little, and don't be alarmed if you see ink come off on the towels. This is your best bet to get them clean.

Good luck.
Reply:yea but use detergent so your shoes dont smell
Reply:yes you certainly can. i drew on my vans and it bled in the snow and looked horrible and i threw em in the wash and voila it all came out.
