Hi all. I have had chest pain for over a year, mainly under left shoulder, very sever. can anyone help.?

I have had x-rays and ecgs etc several times but always found nothing wrong. Heart, lungs and other areas show no sign of any trouble. Pain is irregular and not related to anythig that I do and it can show up any time, anywhere in the chest, upper arms, left leg and buttock. Recently I feel its affecting my head. Sometimes I cannot concentrate and feel difficult to keep my head straight. Also feet stay worm mostly and sometimes I have to take my shoes. Generaly feel hot/worm.

My GP gives me paracetamol, ibuprofen or similar, which does not always work.

Any Medical expert with any suggestions?

Thank you.

I am no medical specialist but from your description, you have gone through all the necessary tests but show no sign of any symptoms.

Perhaps, it could be due to stress, over-straining of the muscles which might cause such symptoms.

The question is how many times have you seen this GP who prescribed you the medications?

If it's the 1st time, then I would suggest that you consult him again. However, if the GP in his medical expertise feels that there's nothing wrong with you and if you are still concern, consult another GP for 2nd opinion.

By so doing will ease your concern about the symptoms that you are experiencing.
Reply:PLEASE!!! go to a heart surgeon and get yourself checked thoroughly. ECG is not the ultimate test for identifying heart related problems. ECG mostly indicates heart trouble only if you get it done while you are experiencing the pain, otherwise it will be normal. There are other tests which can identify problems like blood clots etc, Angiography may be needed to properly identify the problem. Please take chest pain very seriously and if it is severe like you say immediately have heart problem ruled out by seeing a heart surgeon.
Reply:Dunno man, but its warm not worm! !
Reply:Sounds like a neurologist is who you should speak to, nerve pain can act as you've described. Regular pain medication will not affect nerve damage. You need certain nerve inhibitors.
Reply:Do a search on "costiochondritis" on the internet. You could have this. I'm not an expert, but my sis has/had this and had similar symptoms. Sometimes she was sure she was having a heart attack as the pain was so severe, but after tests, determined that it's not a heart condition and probably only the above. She also has severe headaches. good luck to you!
Reply:My brother had similar pain in his chest area with no real explanation for a period of time but they finally figured out that he was experiencing anxiety and it was making him tighten small muscle groups until it hurt like he was having a heart attack. They dealt with anxiety and the pain has gone away.
Reply:Have you had an EKG done on the neck? It will show things that xrays wont such as disc problems (which do seem to effect the whole body randomly except for the Neck)!
