Can you tell me a suitable polymeric material used for hard contact lenses and why?

can you tell me a suitable polymeric material used for hard contact lenses and why? Also for "man-made" uppers for shoes or for a "heavy duty" domestic bath.

Thanks

"Hard" contact lenses are typically made out of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA). This polymer is more rigid, that's just a physical characteristic of methacrylate polymers. This contrasts with "soft" contact lenses, which are typically made out of hydroxyethylmethacrylate (HEMA).
