Is it safe for my two year old to play in the snow?

Okay, any minute now snow is going to start falling in the upper part of Mississippi! I am so excited! I have not seen snow in 11 years! LoL! No ice, just snow! OMG I cant believe it. What also makes this special, is this will be my childrens first snow. Our daughter is ten months, our son is two years old. Is it safe for him to play in the snow, and what do I need to equip him with clothing wise! I know sweater, pants, socks shoes, hood jacket, but I have never done this before with a child lol! Thanks fro replies!

Is it safe for my two year old to play in the snow?
It's very fun and safe to play in the snow! I had my daughter out in the snow last year at 16 months! Bundle him up with a heavy jacket, boots, hat, and gloves. Snow pants too if you have them. Go outside and enjoy! And be sure to have some hot chocolate when you go back inside - yes, you can put it in a sippy cup, but pour milk in half of it so it's not too hot for him :)
Reply:Of course they can! Just don't let them get too cold, and when they come in, I'd put them straight into a hot bath and then have some warm dry things to cuddle into afterward. That's what we always did, and the hot bath feels so good after the cold.
Reply:This is totally ok. I live in NH and my niece loves to play in the snow. She wears a snow suit with warm clothing underneath with gloves and a hat.
Reply:it's great to let him play in the snow. if you don't have snowpants and boots (probably not on your must-buy list in mississippi, lol) he'll get wet pretty quickly and you'll have to bring him back in. but take him out for a little bit anyway. he'll love it. if you don't have mittens (ideally waterproof), put some socks over his hands. you can put some of the plastic bags that come with the bread over his feet inside his shoes to keep his feet more dry if you don't have waterproof boots (just be careful to keep an eye on him because obviously they're not safe for toddlers to be eating or putting over their heads).
Reply:of course its safe and you seem like you have everything covered. also gloves so their hands don't get cold.

have fun!! =)

oh! just don't eat the yellow snow!! LOL
Reply:my 2 year old is in daycare and they go all the time in the snow. I send snow pants to daycare with their winter coat, hat and clothes.
Reply:IT'S PERFECTLY SAFE JUST MAKE SURE TO BUNDLE HIM UP
Reply:My kids loved playng in the snow this winter (they are 5, 2 1/2 and 1). Just make sure they are nice and warm, and make them come in after about 15 mins or so to warm up. ALso, we use socks on their hands rather than mittens or gloves (for my 1 and 2.5 year old boys) becaue we always have a basket of socks that lost it's match, and if you put 2-3 on, the keep their hands nice and warm. Just watch that he doesn't try to eat the snow that dirty or near where salt has been put down to melt it.
Reply:Yes, but you should be with them while supervising them. It can be safe and fun.
Reply:Oh he will have lots of fun, mine sure does.. he will want to try and eat the snow, and there might not be any getting around that , so just make sure the snow he gets isn't dirty or :p yellow. hehe. Oh some ski pants would be helpful too!
Reply:Just bundle him up good, with what you said and gloves and a scarf (if he has one). You probably don't want to keep him outside for more than a half hour or so at a time. But I remember going sledding when I was about two; and that was for several hours in the cold.
Reply:they will love it ,just let them loose and watch their faces. it's more important to make sure that any damp or wet clothes are removed as soon as they return indoors to avoid them getting a chill. a nice hot chocolate drink should soon warm them up.
Reply:I am happy for ya! I think that for today, you may want to allowthem the pleasure of watching the snowfall, and then by tomorrow the snow shouldn't be so "wet" and he can partcipate in ten minute intervals in playing in the snow. I would not keep him out for too long, andwhen he gets inside, obvously get him out of those wet things and into some cozy gear. Enjoy!
Reply:I would do 2 layers. I mean pants... have like pj pants and jeans and then have an under shirt, reg shirt probably a nother shirt or just an undershirt and a sweater. Then their coat and double on the socks

That's what we did when my daughter went out in the snow. :0 She's 2 too.
Reply:I think it's fine. Dress in layers, gloves, hat, good insulated shoes and only for a few minutes at a time. I live in NY and were buried in snow. I hate it cuz I'm from the south and it's really miserable when you live in it. My son really don't like it, he says it's too cold and he's two as well. Just remember: layers and gloves!
Reply:OF course it is safe. THe baby can play too. Dress them warmly. IF they start crying or complaining that they are too cold go in for a half hour, then go back out!
Reply:We dressed our Daughter very warmly and let her play outside in it for about 10 min or so....they get so cold quickly
Reply:You can take both kids in the snow. Make sure they have on as many layers as you, that their heads and feet are covered warmly as well as their hands. Don't bundle them until it is time to go outside so they are warm when they go outside. Also, take them out for, say 10 minutes, in for 20, out for 10. That way they can warm up periodically. OR, just bring some snow inside, put it in the bathtub with your 2 year old, have him dressed almost as much as he would be outside and have fun. You will stay warm and he will have a blast!!!
Reply:Bundle him up with socks %26amp; boots, mittens. coat and hat and scarf, stay CLOSE to him, and don't let him play in the snow for very long. I'd bring him in within 15-20 minutes, or sooner if his lips turn blue or he starts shivering. Keep an eye on his mouth/chin for shivering.

"Sock-shoes" will be wet in no time. If that's all you have, you might want to make his time outside even shorter. Use common sense.

Have plenty of blankets just inside for immediate warming when you come back in!
Reply:gloves and boots a winter puff jacket a hat scarf things like that winter things
