Ufc down wrong path w/ Dana .....?

To pick up where another left off...I dont see Dana destroying UFC. Quite the opposite. He is a very intelligent business man and if not for him mma would not be making it into the mainstream. Spike is a good platform to start from, but also consider how much decision making power would be given up if signed with a major network. EliteXC is said to be inking a deal with CBS. Do you really think that CBS will not try and gain an upper hand it deciding a fight card ? All they care about are ratings..think of how many bad fights you will see just because the "network" wants #'s...If you were in Dana's shoes, would you sign a fighter that wasnt a good draw because of is lack of wins and/or fight ability ?

Ufc down wrong path w/ Dana .....?
i love the ufc. dana white is doing a great job with the company and the ufc is on a huge up swing. do should not relinquish any control to a cable network.
Reply:NEVER ! I would only sign someone if they could win fights and put on a show......Why would anyone want to watch someone with a 5-10 record lets say. If you ain't winning fights then step down because your just making the sport look bad !!!
Reply:EliteXC is owned by Showtime, which is owned by CBS, thus the CBS deal.

The UFC has been in negotiations with HBO for quite some time now, but I don't know if a deal will get done there or not.

The product is clearly better with the UFC, so I don't think the CBS deal is going to turn the tide for Elite XC.

I think the UFC needs to keep control over the product and I think they've done pretty much everything right so far.

Reply:Dana and Joe Rogan should fight the next PPV. Both those guys talk a lot of smack outside the octagon. Let them go at it and the winner gains more respect from the fans.
Reply:For the most part, I like what Dana is doing. I wish he would expand the "scope" of the fighting playing field.

Maybe have double elimination tournaments for non-names, with a chance to get UFC contracts instead of just the "Ultimate Fighter" or Dana's whim.

Look at Europe and Asia a little closer, there is talent there.

Maybe even a bracket system for contenders to get a real #1 seed for a championship. (Prelims on Spike, and Championships on PPV)
Reply:coming from a hopeful fighter... I would hope Dana keeps the best fighters in the UFC.... the UFC is the top end of MMA fighters in the world... to let people in who can barely stand toe to toe with even the worst UFC fighters would be insulting and wrong.
